D-RAYMAC- LanOC V19
D-RAYMAC here...and I had the pleasure of staying at the Fountain Inn in Van Wert for Lanoc v19. While the inn isn't the most aesthetically pleasing lodging option around town, it makes up for it by giving you BIG bang for your buck and being a budget gamer, this is exactly what I was needing! Lets go ahead and get the negative out of the way first. The building is dated as you can see with their bathroom sinks, hardware in the bathtubs, and some drywall and ceiling finishes. From what I can tell the inn has gone through a few renovations in its time and things are a bit wonky to the eye(conduit for electrical wiring on the outside of the wall, etc.) That is where my criticisms come to a halt. As for the bang for my buck, it started when I first arrived and met an extremely friendly staff. They had a very easy check in process(I used an online booking service but the staff encouraged me to let everyone else know that in the future to call the inn direct to book your stay and mention the lan to get their cheapest rate)and I felt taken care of from the start. We chatted about what brought me to town and they quickly understood I was in town for that "game thing on Fox Rd." Yes folks, the word is out in Van Wert about us "playing games and drinking soda" as the staff member lovingly put it. After getting to my room, I noticed the first thing I always look for when staying at a hotel/motel. I had a clean room! From the carpet to bed sheets to no dust on fixtures, everything was tidy and well kept. The amenities are really where things shine here too. At nearly half the cost of the chain hotels around the area, I still had free wifi, cool blowing air conditioning, a microwave and semi-tall fridge, plus a good looking flat panel television all with being the closest lodging option to the current location of the lan which is the Senior Center. My only other nit pick would be the size of the rooms. As a 6'4" plus sized man, I felt the room to be a bit small. I will say that there is plenty of room to get around the bed and to the bathroom but don't expect to do cartwheels here. Believe me, I tried! There is adequate room for your overnight bag and items from the day and/or snacks, Bawls, snacks, and oh, did I mention snacks? Seeing as I only spend about 8-9 hours at the MOST in the hotel during a lan event, cost is a big factor and I feel my money was well spent at the Fountain Inn. So, for the next event, if you don't feel like getting a kink in your back or neck from sleeping under the lan tables and don't want to break the bank, give them a ring and check their rate and be sure to mention you will be in town for the "game thing!" :-) Happy Gaming Everyone!
